Day 3 - 09/08/00
Elko, NV to Salt Lake City, UT

MESSAGE FROM STEVE and SHERRY:
Again a small group including, however, they were very
open and shared statistics for Utah suicides with us.
They believe that they are higher than the national
average. Specifically, one mother stated that she had
been for-warned by a neighbor regarding her son's
sharing of thoughts of suicide with her. She shared
how important communication is and hoped that everyone
would be as open as her neighbor was with her.
PHONE MESSAGE FROM STEVE and SHERRY:
Steve and Sherri had made a couple of presentations by Thursday night; small groups, but good ones made up of appreciative people. Steve was confident that their message was well received. One presentation was in a church that was built in 1902 and "absolutely gorgeous", according to Steve. They're taking pictures all along the way to help record all the special experiences and people. They've had good weather, but lots of road construction in Nevada - Steve had chatted with another traveller who had counted 618 road cones along the way! Sherri's doing great - this bike is much more comfortable than the one that took the Culvers to DC a few years ago.
